Oktoberfecht returns in 2026 for two days of high-level historical fencing, bringing together competitors from across Australia to test their skill in Longsword, Sidesword, and Rapier+Dagger.
This year introduces a streamlined ruleset designed to keep the action flowing, encourage more exchanges, and reward technical, decisive fencing.
Whether you’re chasing a podium finish or looking to measure yourself against some of Australia’s best fencers, Oktoberfecht is built to showcase the highest standard of HEMA competition while providing an challenge for every entrant.
Competitors can expect the high-quality refereeing and organisation that Oktoberfecht is known for.
As always we provide water, snacks, coffee/tea, and electrolyte hydrating drinks for all competitors.
Tournament results will be submitted to HEMA Ratings in the usual way, and all results will be submitted to the Australian Historical Fencing League.
Schedule
This year we are running an exciting new setup with pools running on day 1, and elims and finals on day 2, with all fighters going through to A or B eliminations, so everyone has extra fights and a genuine shot at a podium finish. We’ll also be running extended match times, giving you a fair chance to really test your skills against every opponent.
